Why Kaitlin Butts Is One of Country’s Best Country music may be Kaitlin Butts’ genre of choice, but the Oklahoma-born singer-songwriter and performer has fast become one of its leading lights. With a string of top notch songs in her armoury, including Marfa Lights, It Won’t Always Be This Way, and In the Pines, her new album Roadrunner! (2024) combines country with theatre music in the style of Oklahoma. The rootsy songs blend country, pop and theatre, much as Butts’ earlier work has, continuing in the same vein as her critically-acclaimed debut Same Hell, Different Devil (2015) and second album What Else Can She Do (2022).
