First, the band announced that their highly anticipated eleventh studio album, I Built You A Tower, will be out in June. Next, they released their first single, Riptide, from their upcoming album. And then they made their special announcement: they’re getting back on the road to reunite with their fans and celebrate almost 30 years of making music with the I Built You A Tower World Tour! After touring around the US and Canada, the band will also be sharing their music live with their fans in Europe and the UK. In their previous shows, the band performed 19 songs and three encores, taking their fans on a real ride of emotional music.
With seven Grammy Award nominations, Death Cab for Cutie emerged as a pioneer of the indie rock genre in the early 2000s. Through their 2003 album entitled Transatlanticism, the fans were able to have a breakthrough in the mainstream audience. Known for the melody and themes of their songs, the band continues to have a steady audience almost three decades later. Currently, the band is composed of frontman Ben Gibbard on vocals, guitar, and piano, Nick Harmer on bass, Dave Depper on guitar, keyboards, and backing vocals, Jason McGerr on drums, and Zac Rae on guitar and keyboards.
